THE AGE OF AQUARIUS

Students of 2nd, 3rd and 4th of ESO went to see a monologue in English about the cycle of life represented by the Maya, Inca and American Indian’s calendar, the zodiac. The zodiac is divided in two parts, summer and winter or day and night. The winter cycle was dark and dangerous while the summer one was a period of light and brightness.

Aquarius marks the beginning of the summer cycle and it’s the first time it happens. It started in the 20th century and will last thousands of years. Incas, Mayas and American Indians believed that life would have ended two years ago, in 2012.

Their theory was wrong but right in some way. They thought that life would end because of the ending of their calendar, but what it really happened, as we know now, was that a new age was going to start.

The monologue was about every period of life since the 20th century, starting with the 1950s and ending with the 1990s, and we listened to singing songs from those years like ‘Satisfaction’ by The Rolling Stones, ‘Johnny B. Goode’ by Chuck Berry, ’Wish you were here’ by Pink Floyd, ‘Across the Universe by The Beatles, and so on.

It was a very funny experience for a change, and we would all like to repeat again.
